Readings for Easter Sunday

Luke 24:1-12; 1 Corinthians 15:19-26; Isaiah 65:17-25

Do you know what God is capable of doing?

Our estimations of what is possible are based on what we know and what we’ve seen before. But no one in the world had ever before seen what God did on Easter Sunday. The women were not prepared for it, and neither were the disciples. Jesus rose from the grave, and in doing so, he reversed the finality and certainty of death (Luke 24). And the world is still talking about it to this day!

The Apostle Paul calls Jesus Christ “the first fruits” of what God will one day do for every single one of His children. Sin, death, and Satan will all be swallowed up in victory on the Last Day (1 Cor 15). The prophet Isaiah also foretells this day, predicting an age of no more sadness, long life, enjoyable work, and peace throughout the new creation (Is 65).

Why do you seek the Living One among the dead? He is not here! He is risen!
