A few months ago our jr. high youth group went through a series talking about the different types of loves that are found in Scripture and what they mean for us as God’s children, redeemed through Jesus. This Sunday we’re going to do a sort of follow-up to that series where we’ll be talking about we give and receive love in our lives.
The New Testament is full of exhortations and encouragements that the life of the Christian is to be marked by love. We’ll be looking at three selections of God’s Word that talk about this love that should mark the Christian life. But there’s a problem- we’re still sinful. We still can’t and won’t love perfectly this side of heaven. So how can we try, with the help of God’s Holy Spirit, to love better? To love with the love of Jesus?
We’ll be using a great tool that’s been developed called “The 5 Love Languages” which takes us through a short questionnaire to help determine how we feel most loved, but it also helps us see how our own ability to love falls short. I’ll be taking all the kids through the survey and talking about the results, in the hopes that it helps them to see how they give & receive love, but most importantly opens all of our eyes to love Jesus has shown to us.
Click here to see the survey we’ll be using & if you’d like for me to share the results of your child’s survey with you, please let me know and I’ll be happy too! This survey can be the catalyst for some great conversations with your student(s)!
Just a friendly reminder that the 5th & 6th grade group will be meeting this week! 5:30pm-6:30pm, followed immediately by 7th -8th grade group.
Thank you, and have a great week!
