The readings for this Sunday will be: Psalm 33:12-22; Genesis 15:1-6; Hebrews 11:1-16; Luke 12:22-34. Each of the readings has something to tell us about what faith is and what it does. For Abraham faith meant setting out on a journey “not knowing where he was going. (Heb.11:8)” Are you one of those people that needs to know all the details of a plan in advance? Before climbing in the car my children are sure to ask, “Where are we going?” That’s followed immediately by, “How long will it take?” Human nature doesn’t deal well with the unknown at any age! Yet life is so full of the uncertainty. I suppose one option is to hunker down and risk as little as possible. But God offers us a better way. Put your trust in Him. Trust Him to know what lies ahead for you and trust Him to be there when you need help. Abraham put his faith in the LORD at a critical time in his life, and that faith – like ours – will be rewarded when the LORD finally brings us home to Him.
